Corporate Foster Care

Access clients receiving foster care typically live in their private residence or in an Access home. These clients who range in age from teenager to adults have jobs or they attend school during the day. Typically, you would provide one-to-one companion care to our clients from the time their ride brings them home from work or school (about 2:30 p.m.) until they go back to work or school the next morning (about 8:30 a.m.). Staff assist clients with life skills, community events and housework. Most clients go to bed around 10:00 p.m. and will sleep through the night. In the morning, they need help getting ready for work or school.

Our active clients love to participate in community events (karaoke, dances, bowling, etc.) as well as household chores. Some of our clients require assistance with personal cares, and some require staff to run behavior programs. This is challenging and rewarding work for our employees who help the clients achieve the independence they strive for. You can choose to work one or more shifts per week and every other weekend.

Typical 24-hr Corporate Foster Care Shifts:

  • Weekdays: Start at 2:30 p.m. (includes an 8-hour sleep overnight) and end at 8:30 a.m. the next morning.
  • Weekends: Employees are asked to work every other weekend. Shifts vary depending on client needs and staff availability.

In-Home Services

Some Access clients live at home with their families. Due to the client's special needs, they may require assistance with personal cares and/or learning social skills in the community and at home. Access will train the employee to meet the needs of each individual client.

All of the clients who receive in-home services go to school or work during the day, so staff shifts start about 2:30 pm and last about two to five hours. Sometimes, families ask us to come in the early morning and help get their client ready for the day. Other times, we go in the late evening to help with the bedtime routine. Families will often ask us to provide a staff member on Saturdays and Sundays as well.

Families and clients enjoy staff who are energetic, active, and caring. Like most people, the clients we serve participate in community events which employees accompany them to (soccer, basketball at the Y, church meetings, etc.). And sometimes, staff will be asked to pick the client up from school or work and take them home where they will help them with homework or take them to school or community activities. Hearing a client greet you and say, "I'm so glad you are here" makes this job a rewarding one.

Typical In-Home Service Shifts:

  • Weekdays: Shifts can start any time after 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon and typically last two to five hours.
  • Weekends: Staff who accept weekend shifts would be asked to work every other weekend. Shifts vary from four to eight hours.
  • Early Mornings or Late Nights: Some families ask us to help with early morning routines or late night routines. These shifts are typically only two hours (6:30 to 8:30 a.m. or 7 to 9 p.m.).
  • Summer time: Some families ask that we help out during the days (between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.) over summer vacation. These shifts are varied in time frame and length.
  • Flexible Scheduling: We will build you a work schedule that fits your current schedule based on client need and staff's availability.
